Ex-post Evaluation of the REDD+ and Capacity Building Project in Sierra Leone

Title of the Action to be evaluated :

Reduction of Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) and Capacity Building in Sierra Leone.

The Project was expected to achieve the following results:

R1. The Forestry Division of the MAF and NPAA is strengthened in terms of institutional structure, policy framework, technical capacities and logistical support.

R2. Basic REDD+ readiness is completed for Sierra Leone.

R3. The level of awareness of climate change and its links to environmental degradation and development, particularly children and women, has significantly increased.

R4. Sustainable charcoal production is piloted in Sierra Leone, showing its potential to reduce the pressure on forests.

R5. The potential for the generation of solar power in Sierra Leone has been mapped and the basic information needed to prepare a national solar strategy and action plan is established.

At least a Master's degree in forestry or environmental sciences.

• Minimum of 8 years of international experience in the fields of forestry and REDD+ mechanisms.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project monitoring and/or evaluation.

• Experience in African countries, particularly in West Africa
