In June 2017, the European Delegation in China awarded Prospect C&S an 18-month service contract to support the EU China cooperation in Agriculture and Rural Development. The objective was to promote effective dissemination of best agricultural and environmental practices and capacity building in modern farming techniques among young farmers and professionals in the agro-food sector of both sides: China and Europe.

During the cooperative work of Prospect C&S, COWI and CARAH, a staff of 3 international experts was involved in this mission organized in close collaboration with several institutional partners: DG-AGRI (UE), Chinese Ministry of Agriculture (MARA), EU Delegation in Beijing, the European council of young farmers (CEJA).

The objective has been achieved via four study tours: two in European countries and two in China.

A total of 44 young farmers and agri-food sector professional have visited a large variety of plant and animal breeding production centres, agro-processing plants as well as research and education centres during the study tours.

On December 10th a final conference was organized in Beijing with Chinese and EUD authorities to share the outcomes of the study tours and in particular valuable lessons learned.
