This mission was implemented under the global contract “GCCA Climate Support Facility”.
Within the Intra-ACP GCCA Programme, in addition of the CSF, 5 regional programmes are implemented by decentralised institutions. One of them covers the Pacific region and is co-implemented by the SPREP (Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme).
SPREP requested assistance from the CSF to carry out a fact-finding mission on possibilities of involving private sector in Pacific region to increase climate resilience and then to elaborate a proposal for funding by the Climate Investment Fund (CIF) – Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience (PPCR).
The CSF mission was highly successful and a concept note for a PPCR Programme involving 6 projects aiming at climate resilience (solar water purification, coconut biofuel, waste energy, organic waste fertilizers and energy, sustainable buildings and solar/hydro energy) was elaborated.
