Through the GCCA ACP program funded under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF), the Climate Support Facility had to assist the African Biofuel and Renewable Energy Company (ABREC) in order to facilitate access to existing climate change funding and strengthen its Technical Assistance Facility skills.

ABREC has been created in 2007 with the object of promoting the use of renewable energy and clean technology in 10 African countries. Its main tasks are to support its member countries in the development of projects in the areas of renewable energy and clean technology and in mobilising the required funds for their implementation.

The CSF provided external expertise and organised a seven-week mission in order to review the projects and build the capacity of ABREC’s staff on climate change funding opportunities and procedures.
