Background | The Support to the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) proposed in the Regional programming for Asia Multiannual Indicative Programme 2014-2020 (MIP) foresees three intervention areas, namely: (1) connectivity through sustainable and inclusive economic integration and trade; (2) climate change, environment and disaster management; and (3) a comprehensive dialogue facility. These areas have been endorsed at the ASEAN-EU Joint Cooperation Committee that took place in Jakarta in January 2014. This new project on "Environmental Education in ASEAN Countries", in line with the second specific objectives of the MIP 2014-2020, will contribute to the protection of the environment. This new intervention is also aligned with the environmental dimensions of sustainable development enshrined in the European Consensus on Development. The project will also contribute to the goal of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which aims-to protect the planet from degradation, including through sustainable consumption and production, sustainably managing its natural resources and taking urgent actions on climate change, so that it can support the needs of the present and future generations. |
Objectives | To support the ASEAN authority, relevant AMS (ASEAN Member States) and EU Delegation representatives in all stages of the development of Action Document for EU-ASEAN "Environmental Education in ASEAN Countries" |
Activities | The consultant will support the ASEAN authority, relevant AMS and EU Delegation representatives in conducting the Joint Identification and Joint Formulation processes as well as in compiling the project Action Document for the "EU support to ASEAN on Environmental Education ". The support will be provided in three phases: joint identification, joint formulation and the finalisation phases. A subsequent phase can begin only when the required outputs of a previous phase were approved by the contracting authority. |
