Short-Term Mission: Study on the management, treatment and valorisation of the Muhima hospital waste (Kigali, Rwanda)
Prospect C&S was contracted by the Belgian Technical Cooperation (BTC) in order to carry out a study on the management, treatment and valorisation of the waste of the Muhima hospital in Rwanda.
The purpose of this project was to improve the waste management and treatment n of liquid and solid waste and rainwater run-off at the Muhima hospital and to investigate the potential of their valorisation.
The Prospect team conducted a field mission in Rwanda during September 2008 in order to:
- analyse the needs and investigate the key issues related to the waste management system and infrastructures;
- formulate a technical and financial document which offers various scenarios for the improvement of the waste management system and the valorisation of the liquid and solid waste; and
- develop the Terms of References for a water purification plant at the hospital.
The work and the reports have been approved by the BTC.
