Short-Term Mission: Study and recommendation on air quality data modelling and exchange
Prospect C&S was contracted by the European Environment Agency (EEA) to carry out a study on air quality data modelling and exchange and, following the Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS) principles, to formulate appropriate recommendations.
The purpose of this project was to improve the exchange of air quality data from the local level to the EEA’s air quality database (Airbase).
The experts, Patrick Tisserant, Michel Houssiau, Francis De Hertogh and Manu Harchies, conducted the study from October to December 2008. The main tasks of the study were to:
- Acquire air quality data from the Internet for various European Countries;
- Compare datasets from local/regional level and the EEA database: Airbase;
- Propose a standardized format to improve the management, treatment and exchange of air quality data; and
- Formulate recommendations for an improved air quality data exchange system, following the SEIS principles.
The work and the reports have been approved by the European Environment Agency.
